7 weeks and counting....

7 weeks and 4 days to be exact.  Miles will you please stop growing for just a little bit?
He is pretty much sleeping through the night, and we are loving it.  We've had a few nights where we put him down around 9:00 p.m. and he wakes up around 6:30 a.m.   Last night he went to bed at 8:30 p.m. and woke up hungry at 3:30 a.m., and back up at 7:30 a.m.  Besides his all night stretch, he is eating 4-5 oz every 3 hours.   I think we are going to have to put away the 4 oz bottles.  Tear.  ;(
He is a lazy eater though, unless he is waking up in the morning.  Most times it takes at least 45 minutes to feed him and burp him.  Anything I can do to speed him up, or is this just how it is?
He does great in his crib all night, I just need to start putting him in his crib for his naps too.  I just don't want to wake him by walking up the stairs.  BUT I shouldn't put him in his crib asleep anyway, I need to put him down sleepy or wake him and then put him in his crib. At least that's what Baby 411 says.
Thoughts/Suggestions Mommies?

Here is what we have been up to:

On Wednesday, Miles had his photo taken with the rest of Grubbs Pest Control as they won #1 in Robertson County. Way to go! Look out for your Robco Times on Wednesday. :)

Last Friday we met up with Mary and Baby Jack for lunch out and then just hanging out at Mary and Frank's house.  It was so nice to just sit back and relax.   Today is Mary's first day back to school after her maternity leave.  Happy back to work Mary!  Here are a few shots from our visit.
Miles -7 weeks   Jack-5 months today to be exact!

Saturday, We went to Nanny & Baa's house to carve pumpkins and eat chili.

Today, I messed around with Daddy's camera and poor Miles was my victim. We have no idea what we are doing with our camera.  I need to take a class. I also worked on his stocking that we take to Christmas on my Mom's side of the family.  Baa came and watched Miles for a couple hours this morning as I had to go to the podiatrist as I was sure I have a heel spur or something.  I could barely walk sometimes.  The doctor gave me a shot in my heel and a splint to wear at night.  I also have to wear sneakers in the house and do stretches all day. I am officially OLD.  BOOOOOOO

Babbling Day!

Since today is babbling day, and Miles must have known it was because he was doing it a lot more, here are some terribly shaky, grainy videos, with my annoying voice.  It's the only time we've caught his sweet voice on video.  He's been cooing up a storm for a while, but we are just terrible parents and never record it.  If any grandparents are reading this, we really like flip cams. I kid.

Pumpkin Patch and Fun Visits!

This past Saturday, Mommy, Daddy and Miles headed out to Honeysuckle Hill Farm in my hometown to meet up with my childhood friend Mary and her 5 month old son Jack.  This was the first meeting for the future best friends!  Although Miles slept most of the time, it was great to catch up with Mary and see little Jack again.
I can't believe how many people were out at Honeysuckle Hill.  When did it get so big?
Here are some shots from the fun day!
 Poor Miles
I'm sure it was fine to take our 6 week old out in all this dust.

 My boys

 Love this!
 My favorite shot
 Jack got hungry
I need this
Boo!

Miles has had a lot of firsts the past two weeks. Besides the pumpkin patch, he got to spend the night at his Lily and Grandbubba's (Joey's mom and dad).  He slept through the night.  He also got to spend the night with his Nanny and Baa (my mom and dad) last week during mom's fall break. He also slept through the night.  I'm convinced the grandmom's are putting rice cereal in his bottle. :)
Nanny helped mommy run errands and catch up on sleep!  I think Laura Beth and Jessie are also going to make great babysitters one day! They helped him work on his neck control and tracking objects.  Just sad Nanny and Miles, and Grandbubba and Lily didn't get a pic together with him.  Next time!

Miles also got a visit in with mommy's friends, "Aunt's" Kelly and Lesley.  Kelly was in from Colorado, and it was so good to see her!

Visit with Great Grandfather, Grandfather & Great Uncle

Miles got a special visit from his Great Grandfather Archie Champion, his Grandad Baa and Great Uncle Bill.  It was an extra special visit because it was Paw-Paw Archie's 95th birthday!  Here are some sweet pics from the visit.

Believe it or not

A little over a year ago, my friend Jennifer told me about some fertility statues that were going to certain Ripley's across the country, and they were going to be in Gatlinburg late summer 2010.  We immediately knew a road trip was going to have to happen as Joey and I had been trying for a few years with no luck.   From watching the video on Ripley's, it seemed to have worked for a lot of women, so I thought, what could it hurt.  It would also be a good excuse to spend time with Jennifer and Ashley and get away from our men for a weekend.
I rubbed, rubbed, rubbed and rubbed those statues.  I went back later that night and rubbed, rubbed, rubbed those statues.

Me super happy rubbing statues.

I touched the statues on July 31, 2010.  I gave birth to Miles on September 1, 2011.
My friend Jennifer also touched the statues and she is currently pregnant due in January 2012.
We tried to push our friend Ashley into those statues, but she knew better.

Here we are enjoying Gatlinburg. Bahahahahahahahahahahah.

BUT....
I also took Clomid (I took half of the lowest dose) one time, so I'm pretty sure it was the Clomid, but part of me likes to believe it was the statues.
I like to think maybe the statues took my mind off of our fertility struggles for a small time and I got to enjoy a weekend in a super cheesy tourist town.
Either way.....if you are having trouble trying to conceive, don't rule these statues out!

Doctor Visit and Crazy Mom

Miles had his one month doctor visit yesterday.  He is growing so fast!  He weighs 10 lbs,  is in the 80th percentile in weight and 90th percentile in height.  He changed his formula from Similac Advance to Similac Sensitive due to some gas/tummy problems. Hopefully this will fix it.  He does well with the liquid ready to feed formula, not the powder.  Any of you moms had trouble with powder formula as well?  He will poo a little in his diaper and just squirm and grimace until I take his diaper off and help him do the bicycle with his legs then he poos like a champ. I was worried I started a bad habit but the doctor assured me not.  I really don't want him to be 30 asking for help to poo. Shew.

He had his second hep shot.  You should have seen the look of surprise on his face when the nurse stuck him with the needle, and then the loudest, most blood curdling scream came out of his mouth. I've always heard stories of how hard it is on the parent, but didn't really get it.  After he screamed for a minute, the look of disappointment on his face was enough to kill me.  I think I cried more than him.

Today is Joey's first day back at work so we shall see how this goes with me doing it by myself.  A little intimidated to say the least.   In honor of daddy going back to work:

I'm pretty nervous about taking him out by myself for some reason.  Surely I'm not the only mom that has had this hesitancy? It's like I'm afraid I won't be able to soothe him in public and I'll be looked at like a bad mom.  I can soothe him at home, so why do I feel like I couldn't do it in public?    Or I'll lock the keys in the car with him in it.  Or if I go out for a walk on a trail that someone will take him.  Am I turning into crazy mom?   Sounds like it.   I will work on being positive about it and I'm sure with a little time with him by myself this fear will die down some.

He is cooing and "talking" up a storm. My favorite part of the day is right before tummy time I lay him down on the mat and we just talk and talk.  His smile can turn the entire day around for me.

We put him in his crib in his room 2 nights ago, and so far, so good.  I miss him though.  That sounds pretty pitiful.

I have been addressing the blog to Miles, but not today.  I guess I'll go back and forth?
I apologize in advance for my poor writing skills and bad grammar, but I wouldn't be Julie without it!
I hear someone crying upstairs, off I go....

Here is his best friend, Mr. Seahorse.  He loves him. Don't mind the skanky towel for his changing pad. Momma don't want to waste the good ones for downstairs.

Nevermind, oh snap Mr. Seahorse, watch out!

Happy One Month Miles!

Sweet boy, I cannot believe you are one month old today.  I literally do not know where this month has gone!  Just in the past few days your personality has really started to show.  You will lay on the floor on your back and mimic Mommy and Daddy's "Coos" and "Ohhhs" or your mouth will just do the shape of "Coo" but you won't say it.  We can really make you laugh and smile now too.  You are still sleeping in the bassinet at the end of our bed, but I need to make the transition to your crib.  This is hard for momma because she's afraid she won't be able to hear you even though you are just one room away!

We dropped off your registration forms and fees at KinderCare yesterday.  I don't even want to think about November 28th when I have to drop you off!  At least I have almost 2 more months with you that I am going to cherish.

Your Daddy goes back to work this Wednesday and Mommy is very sad about this, especially since your little personality is starting to show.  Maybe we'll take him out to lunch here soon. :)

You amaze me every day and you have made me into the person I have wanted to be my whole life.  A Mommy to Miles.
Love you sweet angel.

Here is a pic of you going for a stroll around the neighborhood in your cool shades.

Here is you relaxing by the window after your stroll.  I think you look just like a doll baby.

The photographer gave me a sneak peek from your newborn photo shoot, and here is a precious shot of you at 7 days old.
